A belt-driven linear slide (or linear actuator) is a mechanical system used to move a load in a straight line, commonly found in automation and CNC machinery.

A belt-driven linear slide uses a toothed belt (usually reinforced with steel or Kevlar) looped around pulleys to provide motion. One of the pulleys is connected to a motor (usually a stepper or servo motor), which moves the belt — and thus the attached carriage — along a linear guide rail.
